Access Statement

Introduction
Our farmhouse is set in peaceful countryside and offers two guest rooms. The farmhouse is over three hundred years old and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some period features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. We are located on a slight incline and all the rooms are at different levels, hence there are steps into the farmhouse and between rooms. Ceilings are fairly low in some rooms and doors are narrow.

Rooms are of typical old build proportions and not suitable for wheelchair users.

Pre-Arrival

• We are located close to a cross roads and whilst the location can be peaceful it is not ideally suited to those without transport.
• The nearest shops are approximately 2 miles away.
• The nearest bus stop in just under 1½ miles away on the A49. Buses only run hourly and the service stops early evening.
• The nearest railway station is Hereford which is approximately 12 miles away.
• Taxis are usually available at the station but we can book one for you in advance if required.
• There are several local taxi companies; we can make bookings in advance for you.
• Brochures and room information can be provided in large print if required. We regret we do not have facilities to prepare documents in Braille.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.
• To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 2.30pm. Earlier arrival may be possible by arrangement.
• Parking is on a level car park.
• We offer assistance with luggage.

 

Main Entrance & Reception

• There are 5 steps of 9 inches up to the front door.
• The front door is normally open between 9am & 11pm

Public Areas – General (Internal)

• The farmhouse is available to the on two floors.
• The entrance porch leads to the entrance hall and guest lounge.
• There are no steps to the guest lounge.
• There are 15 stairs to the first floor; there is a hand rail on one side of these stairs. The stairs are carpeted.
• We have two guest bedrooms which are both on the first floor (please see section on bedrooms for more information).
• The farmhouse is centrally heated throughout but temperatures can be adjusted in each room to suit individual requirements.

Guest Lounge

• Guests are welcome to use the lounge area at any time.
• It is carpeted and has a log burner during cold weather.
• A selection of local information, maps, magazines and board games are available in the hall area.
• Breakfast is served in the guest lounge.

Laundry

• We have a very limited laundry service but can assist with drying clothes from walking or cycling, please ask us for assistance.

Bedrooms

Both bedrooms are on the first floor and are carpeted throughout.

• There are en suite facilities in both rooms consisting of a shower/bath, WC and wash basin.
• Tea and coffee facilities and bottled water provided in your fridge.
• We also provide a hair dryer, sewing materials, a selection of books and magazines.
• A first aid kit is available on site.
• Our beds are normally made with duvets. All pillows are synthetic.
• We are happy to provide sheets and blankets if preferred. Please specify before your arrival if required.
• There is a wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table in each room.
• The Garden Room is large enough to accommodate an additional z bed if required.
• There is a folder in each bedroom which contains further information about the farmhouse and details of emergency contacts including doctors and hospitals.
• An electric heater is located in the wardrobe for exceptionally chilly nights.
• The whole building has central heating which is adjustable in every room.

The Garden Room is to the right at the top of the stairs.

• There are 13 steps of 9 inches up to the first floor.
• This room has a 5ft King Size bed with access from both sides.
• This room can accommodate 1 Z Bed.

The Honeysuckle Room is to the left at the top of the stairs.

• There are 15 steps of 9 inches up to this room.
• This room has a 4ft6in bed with access from both sides.

Grounds and Gardens

• We have a large garden with lawns, flower beds and a vegetable plot.
• Guests are very welcome to enjoy our garden at all times.
• Access to the garden is via the front entrance door at the bottom of the stairs.
• There are 5 – 6 inch steps into the garden down the lawn.
• Garden benches are available for guests.

Additional Information

• There is a fire extinguisher on the landing outside the Garden room.
• In the event of a fire the fire alarm will sound.
• The building can be evacuated via the front door at the bottom of the guest stairs and straight into the garden.
• We do not permit smoking in the farmhouse but you may smoke in our garden. Please request an ash tray.
• We are happy to cater for special diets or any particular likes or dislikes. Please advise us of these before your arrival.
• We are happy to refrigerate any medication.
• Mobile phone reception at the farmhouse is generally ok but it does depend on the network.

Future Plans

• Update of the existing car park to incorporate new lighting and a hard gravel surface.
• Installation of a new path from the car park to the front door.
• Building of a new porch for the front entrance.
• Provision of a 3rd guest bedroom with en suite during 2011.
